If you’ve ever felt like your labs look “normal” but you still don’t feel well, you’re not alone. Most people spend months—or even years—chasing symptoms without clear answers. That’s where an epigenetic hair analysis can change everything.

This simple, noninvasive scan looks beneath the surface to show what’s really going on inside your body—so we can spend less time guessing, and more time healing.

What “Epigenetic” Really Means

Epigenetics is the study of how your genes express themselves based on the signals you send your body through nutrition, lifestyle, stress, sleep, and environment.

Think of your genes as light switches: they can turn “on” or “off” depending on how your body is supported (or stressed). Unlike traditional DNA testing—like 23andMe—which tells you what genes you have, epigenetic analysis shows how your body is using those genes right now.

Why Hair Is So Telling

Your hair follicles are like the rings of a tree trunk—they record a story over time. Because hair grows slowly, it captures what’s happening in your body over the last 90 days.

That’s why epigenetic hair analysis can reveal patterns and imbalances that may not show up on a standard blood test. It’s not about measuring exact numbers or lab values—it’s about showing which systems are under stress, which nutrients are depleted, and how your body is currently expressing imbalance.

What It Isn’t

It’s important to know what this scan isn’t.

It’s not a diagnostic test, and it doesn’t measure exact levels of nutrients or metabolites like a blood panel or Organic Acids Test (OAT) would.

Instead, it’s a powerful functional snapshot of your body’s patterns and priorities—what’s out of balance, what’s being overworked, and what may be contributing to how you feel.

What It Is (and Why It’s So Valuable)

Epigenetic hair analysis gives you a 90-day window into your body’s story—helping identify:

  • Nutrient and mineral depletions
  • Toxic or environmental stressors
  • Mitochondrial or thyroid dysfunction patterns
  • The root cause of gut symptoms or histamine intolerance
  • Why blood sugar or energy may feel unstable
  • Systemic stress that keeps you from feeling your best

When we can see how the body is expressing itself, it almost always validates symptoms clients already feel—and gives us faster insight into what’s behind them. That means we can skip weeks (or months) of trial and error and move more quickly toward healing.

How It Fits into My Functional Nutrition Process

As a functional nutritionist, I use the hair scan as part of a deeper, personalized process.
Each client’s plan is built on a combination of:

  • A thorough intake (symptoms, history, and goals)
  • Nutrition and lifestyle review
  • Functional labs or referrals when needed (blood work, GI Map, DUTCH, OAT)
  • Epigenetic hair analysis for real-time insight into nutrient and system balance

Together, these pieces help uncover the root cause of what’s going on so we can build a plan that actually works—and adapt it as your body begins to heal.

What Clients Can Expect

  • Quick results: Once your hair sample is scanned or received at the lab, your personalized report (PDF) is delivered to your email.
  • Full report access: You’ll receive the same multi-page report I see, showing detailed information across categories like nutrients, fatty acids, environmental stressors, and system support priorities.
  • One-hour results consultation: We’ll meet for 60 minutes to go over your results together. During that time, I’ll explain what each section means, help you interpret the patterns, and outline key nutrition and supplement strategies tailored to your results.
  • Ongoing support: Some clients choose a one-time session, while others continue with me for 3–4 months of guided care (typically with follow-ups every 2 weeks). This allows for accountability, adjustments, and steady progress.

Local & Remote Options

If you’re in the Houston, TX area, you can schedule your scan in person.
If you’re not local, no problem—I can mail a kit directly to you. You’ll simply collect a small hair sample from the root (it’s painless and quick) and mail it back. Once it’s scanned, you’ll receive your report and a link to schedule your consultation.

Why This Matters

Functional nutrition is all about connection—understanding why symptoms are happening instead of just covering them up.

Epigenetic hair analysis helps bridge the gap between what you’re feeling and what’s really going on inside your body, giving us a clearer roadmap for healing.

It’s one of the most powerful tools I use to help clients finally understand their bodies and start feeling like themselves again.
